I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, so when I learned about the H&V (Heroes & Villains Miniatures) masterpiece version, I simply couldn’t resist! It was a must-have on my to-paint list. 馃榾 The brush ran as if on autpilot thanks to excellent quality of the busts sculpted by Raul Garcia Latorre. Highly recommended! 馃檪

Why sci-fi Sherlock Holmes?
I always wanted to see a sci-fi version of Sherlock Holmes, so I created my own. I am surprised that (asode for a few contemporary ones) new victorian incarnations keep being created, because to me Sherlock Holmes is an universal character, not bound to living in a particular period of history. I think I was inspired by the “Chappie” movie – I fell in love with the concept of near future and difficult beginnigs in relations between humans and robots. I loved this comical helplessness.
Moim marzeniem by艂o zobaczy膰 Sherlocka Holmesa w wersji sci-fi, dlatego stworzy艂am w tym klimacie w艂asnego. Osobi艣cie dziwi臋 si臋, 偶e (opr贸cz nielicznych wsp贸艂czesnych) nadal powstaj膮 coraz to kolejne wersje wiktoria艅skie, bo Sherlock Holmes to posta膰 umiwersalna – ponadczasowa. Do stworzenia takiej wizji popchn膮艂 mnie chyba film “Chappie” – zakocha艂am si臋 w klimacie niedalekiej przysz艂o艣ci i trudnych pocz膮tkach w budowaniu relacji ludzko艣ci z robotami. Komiczna nieporadno艣膰 mnie zachwyci艂a.
H0L-M35 or Holmes?
In my creation it’s Dr. Watson who is the main character, a creator of a superinteligent robot. This is the very first H0L-M35, and his appearance has been inspired by 200-years-old sketches, as the thing is set in 2104. 馃槈
W mojej kreacji g艂贸wnym bohaterem w tym duecie jest Dr Watson – konstruktor superinteligentnego robota. To pierwszy egzemplarz H0L-M35, a jego wygl膮d dos艂ownie nawi膮zuje do szkic贸w sprzed dwustu lat, bo to rok 2104. 馃槈

The retro style of these busts made me play a bit with their clothes, so Dr. Watson turned out into a victorian hipster – an excentric geek, who (just like me) used to read all the Sherlock Holmes stories. Having been contracted for building a robot for criminal investigation department, he decided to refer to traditional values. This old-fashioned look was accepted and has been endearing for the last 35 years.

Where are you going now?
I was happy to present the models at the 6th Figure Painting and Sculpting Show in Toru艅, where the models were awarded. I am sure there must be a Sherlock fan, who will appreciate the models and would like to give them a new home. 馃檪
