Armies on Parade, part II

http://ift.tt/2gkPDFt

Armies on Parade Age of Sigmar is in 10 days. I've never done a fantasy display board before, and have decided to give it a try. I don't have a large fantasy army, but I have painted almost all the Tzeentch miniatures from Silver Tower.

I want to create something strange and chaotic for my Tzeentch warband. The Idea is to create some kind of organic mountain or forrest. I love creepy human faces. If you have followed this blog for a while you've probably seen several creations in my collection with strange human-like faces. But this time I'm really going to outdo myself. I'm planning to use hundreds of human faces on this project. They will be all over the board and backdrop, growing out of the ground.

So far I've made around 150 faces. These were made by terracotta clay pushed into silicone moulds. on the first few faces I waited for the clay to dry before removing them from the moulds. But then I would only be able to make a couple of faces a day, and it would take forever to get enough. I ended up pushing clay into the moulds and quickly pulling them back out. This made the faces warped and stretched, which is a good look for Tzeentch. On the next batch I'll try to find something less sticky and easier to work with than the terracotta clay.
